Michelene Insalaco in her studio, Northern California

Michelene Insalaco is a mixed-media artist working primarily in acrylic on canvas, alongside a studio practice in pottery, stained glass, glass blowing and glass fusing.

Her work is rooted in geometric abstraction, often built around grids, lines, and banded compositions. Structure plays a central role across her paintings, with recurring forms like intersecting lines, curves, and stacked shapes appearing throughout the body of work. At times, these compositions incorporate text or mixed materials, adding another layer to the surface of the piece.

Based in Northern California, Michelene continues to work between the canvas, the wheel, and the glass studio, moving fluidly between painting, pottery, and glasswork.
